Discovery Program - Teen Intensive
The Discovery Program is for At Risk Youth, teens who are out of control. This program is a great alternative to teen boot camps, therapeutic boarding schools and other in- patient programs. The program takes teens who are demonstrating destructive behaviors such as:
The Discovery Program is a 120 day intensive, stay-at-home alternative to in-patient or bootcamp type programs. We believe that our approach works better than the traditional approaches because it works with the teen where the teen lives with the support and input of parents, counselors, schools personel, friends etc.
The program often requires the filing of an 'At Risk Petition' which applies immediate legal authority and restriction to bring your teen under control. This authority enables us to set defined boundaries which the law will enforce if the teens fails to comply. We seldom have to use the courts or juvenile system to get teens to work with us. Once the teens understand we are not attempting to 'fix' them but to focus them on a new way of living they tend to get with the program.

Teen Coaching
Parenting a teenager can be one of the most daunting and frustrating jobs on earth! We believe that the coaching model is the most effective model to motivate and encourage teens to live healthy and productive lives.
Teen Discovery has developed a model to work with your teen using older teens and young adult coaches. These coaches are supervised by skilled and seasoned coaches. Using these peer coaches takes away much of the bite and confrontational atmosphere that often charaterizes the parent/teen relationship.
Our coaching model uses both groups/teams and individual programs. Our Life Scene Investigation (L.S.I.) runs regularly in the Seattle area.
The Teen Coaching process involves our coaches working with teens in the following areas:
Regular contact with parents is seen as a necessary part of the success of the program.
Teen Tutoring
(Coming Soon)Many of the teens we work with are struggling with academic issues. We have included tutoring as well as teaching study skills as part of our programs.
Bridges
A program for teens who are leaving or have already left school and are unclear about their future. This has a definite vocational slant and is intensely practical.

Returning Home
Many of the teens we work with have been to 'away' programs and then have problems soon after they return. In order for your teen to really make the 'away' experience meaningful and result in lasting change requires a re-integration back to real life. This can often be the make or break of the programs they have been to.

Special Program Development
Teen Discovery has developed special Teen and Parenting programs for schools, churches, community groups including the 'Coaching For Life' program for the Regeneration Project. www.regenerationproject.org The focus of this program is children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. Many of the children are orphans due to HIV/AIDS and/or live with a parent who is HIV Positive.
